In Term 3, our students took part in two days of training given by Greg Yelavich, the Common Wealth Games gold medallist. This set them up well for the national McMillan Cup. The McMillan Cup is an annual competition open to secondary school students throughout New Zealand. This year, 73 students took part. The top individual scores by our students were: Loretta Knights – 333, Elise Oxenham – 325, and Emma Wilson – 305. Emma Wilson, Elise Oxenham, Lochlann Greer achieved gold medals as the best intermediate team in New Zealand, and Samuel Lee, Tyler Dunseath and Liam Anderson achieved bronze. Elise Oxenham’s performance was outstanding – she was awarded national trophies for Best New Shooter, Top Intermediate Score, and Top Rookie Intermediate.
Congratulations to all of our shooters this year. We are seeing great growth in your skills in this unique sport and this is due to your regular practice, focus and self-discipline.
