Reporter Indie McKenzie caught up with Captain Emmy Sowerby (Year 8) post-match to get her thoughts on the game:

Despite the final score, she said it was a great game with lots of enthusiasm from everyone on the team. “It was a hard team to beat. They were probably one of the best teams we could play, so we did really well.”

Emmy praised the work of MVP Jonty Waites (Year 8) who was like a brick wall in the goal, pulling off some incredible saves.

Emmy has been playing hockey for eight years and says it’s a great sport to play.

Coach interview by Bridget Bywater-Lutman

Coach Brady Jones told reporter Bridget Bywater-Lutman he was proud of the team’s effort. “It was a great effort, the team fought really well.”

He said Ruamata is a high-quality team, noting the school’s boys’ side won bronze at AIMS last year. Jones said Aquinas plays Saint Peters this afternoon.
