AC Dance Troupe Win Tauranga Regional Dance Competition

They’ve done it again Aquinas, and we couldn’t be prouder! Our Open Lyrical Dance Troupe was crowned Tauranga regional champions at DanceNZ Made’s interschool competition last night.

The win puts them one step closer to defending their national title in October.

The 15-member Year 9-13 dance troupe was the only team to be awarded excellence in choreography which is bestowed if both judges give a team ten out of ten. The troupe also won its Open Division (Yr 9-13). They now turn their sights to Nationals in Palmerston North in October.

The members are: Hannah Anderson, Georgia-Rose McFarlane, Kiana Schoeser, Ava Weber (all Yr 9), Lila Drummond, Willow Murie, Vivian Pham, Sophie Van den Borst (all Yr 10), Paige Eastergaard, Alana Perrett, Krysta Stollery, Josie Stott (all Yr 11), Year 12’s Greer Wakelin, and Mia Knowles and Holly Van den Borst of Year 13.

Congratulations also to Aquinas’ Year 7 and 8 Jazz Troupe which finished second in the Year 7 to 8 division. A fantastic achievement!

The junior group was coached and choreographed by our very own Paige Eastergaard and Alana Perrett! Congratulations also to Krysta Stollery who coached and choreographed Taumata’s Year 3-6 Jazz Troupe which finished fourth. These girls really went above and beyond, and were mature beyond their years!
