On Tuesday night, 9th May, 2018 our talented team of Yr. 13 mooters – Jess Treanor, Emma McDonnell and Teri Dawson – faced off in a court of law with their esteemed colleagues from St John’s College in Hamilton.
This mooting competition – which emulates a real court case – is run by the Law Faculty at the University of Waikato. Teams from all round New Zealand compete to claim bragging rights as top mooters.
Preparing a legal case takes hours of hard work , reading and research. This is followed by the adrenalin of presenting this orally to a judge, who fires questions at the counsel about their case.
The Aquinas College team performed extremely well, with the judge commenting on their preparedness and ability to speak well. The result is now in the hands of the officials…stay tuned!
