Aquinas music students will take to the stage (COVID allowing) in an array of musical events in 2022:
Voci Celesti Choir
The Voci Celesti Choir is on track for its annual participation in The Big Sing, the wildly popular secondary school group-singing competition. The Waikato/BOP regionals will take place in Tauranga in June. It’s not too late to join, new Voci Celesti Choir members are still welcome. Contact Mrs Cooney for an audition.
Junior Choir
A fun choir option for Y7 and Y8 students, the Junior Choir will be performing at the Tauranga Primary School’s Music Festival and Kids Sing events later this year.
Aquinas College Big Band
The Big Band will be performing at the National Jazz Festival in Term 2, and the Waikato Band and Orchestra Festival in Hamilton in September.
Aquinas College Orchestra
The orchestra is also working towards the September Orchestra Festival. Members also have the chance to attend the Big Music Day Out each year in Taupo.
Rock Bands and Jazz Combos
Students interested in forming a band with some like-minded musicians have the chance to enter the annual Smokefreerockquest and Bandquest competitions. Contact the Music Department for more details.
