The academic achievements of 2017 were celebrated at the final school prize giving held on December 12th.
After students all sang the National Anthem, Deacon Vincent Shaw led the school in a Liturgy which focused on not forgetting the true meaning of Christmas at this busy time of year.
Mr Ray Scott thanked the Board of Trustees, Diocese, Bishop Denis and Bishop Steve for their support of him and the college over the past 7 years. He reflected that it is the school’s special catholic character that sets it apart and encouraged all students to uphold the Touchstones of joy, prayer, family, service, truth and scholarship every day.
Sports and Cultural Awards were read by Mr Bill Kite and presented by Mr Mikaere Smith. After a performance by the Concert Band, Mrs Kate Krauts, Dean of Year 7, read the Year 7 and 8 Academic Awards. These were presented by Mr Peter Braid, Dean of Year 8.
The Chair of the Board of Trustees, Mr Scott Kahle, shared his report, followed by the presentation of the Year 9 and 10 Academic Awards, read by Mrs Paula Skelton, Year 10 Dean and presented by Mr Leon Roberson, Year 9 Dean.
After a performance by the Jazz Band, the Year 11 – 13 Academic Awards were read by Mrs Christina Nicolaas, Dean of Year 12 and presented by Mrs Marlize Greyling, Dean of Year 13. Scholarship Awards were Read by Mr Ray Scott and presented by Mr Scott Kahle. The Special Awards were read by Mr Ray Scott and presented by Mr Kurt Kennedy, Deputy Principal. Premier Awards were read by Mr Ray Scott and presented by Deacon Vincent Shaw.
The ceremony finished with a Final Blessing and the College Prayer.
The prestigious Aquinas College cup for Dux of the School was awarded to Aileen Harwood. Brenna Brooker received the McCord Family Cup for Proxime Accessit.
