About the Sport:
Rowing is a competitive and challenging sport, raced on the most picturesque lakes around New Zealand. Commitment and respect for a demanding sport is needed along with rowing technique. We teach you time management, self-discipline and sports nutrition.
We compete in both club and secondary school regattas with our goal being to be highily competitve at the NISS and NZSS Regattas.
Selections:
Requires physically strong and able students from Year 9 and above.
Practices/ Trainings:
Before school, after school and weekends
Competition:
- Regular Weekends of competition throughout terms 1 & 4
- NISS Rowing, Lake Karapiro, Cambridge Friday 9th - Sunday 11th March 2012
- NZSS Rowing (Maadi), Lake Ruataniwha, Twizel, Canterbury Sunday 25th March - Sunday 1st April 2012
Uniform:
- Club Regatta wear TRC rowsuits
- School Regatta wear Aquinas College rowsuits
- Trainings wear casual sport apparel
Equipment:
All equipment provided by club
Cost:
The overall cost for a rower is $1000.00 and for a coxswain estimate $300 for the season. Payment plans are available.
The NZSS Rowing Championships (MAADI) is an additional cost.
