Policies

Policy development is underpinned by the principles and values identified in the Aquinas College Charter and Strategic Plan. Policies are established to ensure Aquinas College and the Board of Trustees meet all Ministry of Education requirements specifically those identified in the National Administration Guidelines.

The Culture and Ethos committee identify that the BOT, Staff, families and students need to aware of school policies and how to access these. Therefore the process of policy review and the transparency of Aquinas College policy are outlined.

1. Transparency of school policy

  • The Aquinas College Charter, Strategic Plan and Annual Plan be available on the school website
  • The Schedule of Aquinas College Policy Review be available on the website
  • The Schedule highlights the policy, month & year review is due
  • Policy Review Response is on an adapted version of the Policy Template
  • Instructions are included on the website.

2. Policy Consultation and Review Process

  • Cycle of review available as a schedule on the school website
  • Head of Faculty is to have a policy folder
  • Timeframe for policy review is stipulated as 2 months from 2011
  • Feedback final date is stated as 2 weeks prior to the BOT meetings
  • Culture and Ethos committee meeting to be 1 week prior to BOT meetings
  • Culture and Ethos committee to identify significant changes
  • The reviewed policy is to be presented to the BOT to ratify.

3. Instructions for Review

  • Policies are available on request at the school office
  • Final feedback is 2 weeks prior to the BOT meeting
  • Majority of policies will be reviewed on a 3 yearly cycle
  • Policy review will also be in response to current issues such as Ministry requirements
  • The Response is on the Policy Template provided either online or at the school office.
  • Make comments using this format
