Curriculum

All students follow the national curriculum of New Zealand. All students from Year 7 to Year 9 cover the eight areas of the curriculum plus Religious Education and there is a increasing option choice for Year 10 to 13.

Years 7-9

  • Religious Education
  • English and Language
  • Health and Physical Education
  • Mathematics
  • The Performing Arts including: Art, Music, Drama,
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Technology

Year 10

Year 10 students will have option choice regarding

  • Languages
  • Technology
  • The Performing Arts
  • Enterprise Studies

Year 11

As part of the National Certificate for Educational Achievement (NCEA) all Year 11 students must study:

  • Religious Education
  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science

...and a range of options including Accounting, Art, Geography, Drama, Economics, French, Graphics, History, Music, Physical Education, Te Reo Maori, Hard Materials, Soft Materials and Food Technology

Year 12

As part of the National Certificate for Educational Achievement all Year 12 students study:

  • Religious Education
  • An English subject
  • A Mathematics subject

...and a range of options likely to include Accounting, Art, Biology, Chemistry, Drama, Economics, French, Geography, Graphics, History, Music, Photography, Physics, Science, Sports Science, Te Reo, Technology.

(The subjects offered will depend on student choice, and staff availability)

Year 13

Year 13 must study for the NCEA and where appropriate for a national Scholarship qualification.

  • Religious Education is compulsory.

Subjects include Art History, Mathematics with Calculus, Mathematics with Statistics and similar options as for Yr 12 depending on staff availability, and student choice.
