Cultural

We are aware that the Aquinas College community is enhanced by the involvement of its students in cultural activities including performance. We offer a range of opportunities for students to be involved and develop strengths in music, public speaking, dance, drama and Kapahaka.

In music we have senior and junior stage bands, a Jazz band, and several specialist choirs. In early 2007, the college produced a major musical Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat at the premier local theatre, Baycourt. As well we hold talent quests, a Performing Arts evening, field trips and workshops to further enhance the musical talents of our students.

We will provide class level public speaking opportunities and competitions through the school, and between schools. We have several debating teams.

We have developed several groups to perform in dance and drama. As well as senior students studying Drama we also have trips to professional theatre productions in Auckland.

We have a Kapahaka group, and a range of experiences to help all students appreciate our bicultural heritage and the vibrant multicultural community that exists in New Zealand.

The College provides opportunities for students to see performances and attend workshops taken by touring or local professionals.
