Athletics 2012

What a wonderful day yesterday (21^st February)at the Tauranga Domain for our college’s Athletic Sports. For the new students (predominantly Y7) it was a terrific introduction into a major school event. Thanks to all the parents and supporters who attended throughout the day and of course to the athletes themselves who proudly participated and competed with such verve and resolve. The inter-House Competition is delicately poised with Heni Pore in front of the chasing Foy, Browne and Cluny. With the longer races still to be run it is anyone’s guess as to which House will take the honours.

Congratulations to all winners and place getters in finals. Over the next few days the Aquinas Athletics Team to compete in the BOP Championships on Tuesday 5^th March will be selected and announced. Judging from the quality of athletes on display yesterday we again should be represented by a strong team.

Due to the postponement on Monday and the shortened programme yesterday we were not able to complete the longer races as scheduled. Please ensure that if you have entered the longer distances that you are ready to compete in them as follows.

• Period 5 : Y7/78 800m

Monday 27^th February:

• Lunchtime Y7, Y8, U14, U16, Senior 1500m

Tuesday 28^th February:

• Lunchtime Open 3000m

Wednesday 29^th February:

• Lunchtime Y7,Y8 U14 300m, U16, Senior 400m
